Mock Job Shadowing Interview Reflection 2018

  1. During the interview, interviewing my classmate, I thought about it and if it was really real one day and what would I do if I was a boss, interviewing someone. I thought about the challenges many people might face while going through the interview and what they would think about.
  2. Similar to number one, I wondered how it would be in real life and how would I react to an actual job interview. I thought about the nervousness that I would have and how would I overcome it. I’m sure it wouldn’t be too bad.
  3. I felt that I had it and I would be qualified for the job because I had some awesome, sexy replies and overcame all the “uhh” and “like” words. Although I did a good job, I felt I could have done some questions better because of some dull responses I gave. The question I found the easiest was the one asking about if they asked my counselor what she thought about me. I found this the easiest one because =my counselor and I have a very close relationship and I feel like she would help me if I came to her with applying for a job.
  4. The advice I would give someone would be to always be prepared for any questions that are thrown at you and always stand straight and don’t slouch. Always make eye contact with someone when looking at them and smile. They might even hire you for just smiling.
  5. If I were in a real interview, I would come dressed appropriately and have a nice smile and come prepared because I would want the job.
  6. The good thing about the activity was that we got to experience what it was like to be asked questions when you actually want a job. We can improve this by using more questions and having real bosses from jobs come and interview. I think that this is needed for real life because everyone is gonna go through this when they want a job.
    1. Question: Do you follow instructions easily? Bad Response: I mean I don’t know you tell me. Good Response: Yes I follow instructions easily and I will with this job. The difference with this is that the bad response was very disrespectful while the good response gave a clear, respectful and understanding response.

Job Shadowing Reflection

  1. What did you learn from your presentation?

I learned that it takes a lot of hard work to be what you want in life and you have to keep working hard in order to be successful

2. How well do you think you did on your presentation?

I think I did an excellent job because I got a good grade.

3. What are some presentation techniques that you can incorporate into your next presentation?

I will look at the audience more and not say “like” a lot.

4. What if anything, could you have done differently to change the outcome of your presentation?

Overall the presentation was decent and I think I could have explained some slides a little more to provide more info on Chemical Engineering.

5A I wish that I would have known another company to job shadow for a better presentation

5B If I could present my presentation again I wouldn’t present without knowing enough info about my career.

5C Now that I have reflected on my presentation, I will go home and play Fortnite all day.

Martin Luther King Jr Day

The holiday that I chose was Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King is civil rights leader and has brought hope and healing to the world. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. His dad was a pastor and a humble man of God. He was brought up in a southern black community and as he got older, he became a pastor himself. At age 35, he was the youngest man to receive a nobel piece prize. In 1957 he was elected president of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership). He got assassinated on  April 4, 1968. We celebrate Martin Luther Kings day every year on January 21 to honor the life of a humble, peaceful man who only wanted to bring good in the world. It is the day that America should come together and be thankful that segregation doesn’t exist anymore although racism might still exist. In my own opinion, I think that this day should be a holiday because he sacrificed his life so we could all be together and be one like Americans should be.

Gun Control

My social issue is should guns be allowed in public places or not? This is a social issue because guns are a serious topic and are dangerous weapons. Many people use these weapons for defense and others use it for offense. People disagree that they shouldn’t have guns in public places because it could cause harm and danger to those around you. I think that they should allow guns in public places because people need protection and they should be able to have it wherever they go.

There are some pros and cons to this. If people were to have guns in public places, there would not be a lot of crime because people would shoot them if they tried to steal anything. Another pro could be students lives wouldn’t be a stake if there was a school shooter because the teachers would have guns on them. Crime rates would lower also if there were robberies and auto-thefts. This would benefit communities with high crime rates. There are a few cons when it comes to should guns be allowed in public places. If we gave guns to those who are in public places, such as a college or university, they could maybe misuse it wrong and go around killing innocent people just for fun. If we gave teacher guns, and if there was a mass shooting, the teachers could get shot because the police would think that they are the gunman because they have the gun. It all depends on the person and who you give the gun to.

My questions for you are. Do you think we should allow guns in public places?

If someone gave you a gun, would you use it property.
